East of Þingvellir (Anglicized as Thingviller) National Park, the wild volcanic landscape is covered with a thick blanket of moss. It's an empty other-worldly place, silent save for the sound of the wind. Looking south we see Þingvallavatn, the largest lake in Iceland, in the distance. Beyond the lake is the Nesjavellir geothermal power station.
